Meet AtHeart: K-Pop’s Newest Girl Group

JELLi MAGAZiNE was recently invited to attend a press conference for one of K-Pop’s newest girl groups, AtHeart. This group is made up of seven members; Michi, Arin, Katelyn, Bome, Seohyeon, Aurora, and Nahyun. With dazzling pop songs and eye-catching visuals, this new group is set on bringing together people through shared experiences that they convey through their music, focusing on topics such as love, self-confidence, and all of the many emotions that come with adolescence.

Their debut album, Plot Twist, is a synthy pop album reminiscent of the bubblegum pop melodies of third generation K-Pop, complete with a unique and fresh sounding rookie touch. Katelyn shared that the group takes a lot of inspiration from their seniors in terms of how to interact with fans, have stage presence, and practice good teamwork. While they feel inspired by the artists who have come before them and paved the way for modern K-Pop, AtHeart wants to experiment with different music styles and genres all while bringing their determined newbie energy to the table in order to bring a breath of fresh air to K-Pop.
In October, AtHeart released an English version of their title track “Plot Twist”, which was a huge achievement for the girls. In recent years, K-Pop has become more mainstream than ever, and the girls of AtHeart want to make sure their music can be shared and understood by as many people around the globe as possible. The song details having a complicated relationship with someone, one where you find yourself disliking certain traits about this person, but ultimately your heart has a “plot twist,” where you find yourself developing feelings for them in spite of what your brain is telling you. While preparing for the English release of Plot Twist, the girls told us it really hit them that this meant even more people would be listening and relating to their songs. For them, this is just the beginning.
The girls also shared some exclusive information about their personal lives with us! It appears that the group loves animals, as Katelyn has 20 dogs! The group also likes F1, with their favorite member being Charles Leclerc, and several of the girls can be found playing Roblox when they have time to rest in between their hectic schedules. AtHeart shares that they felt a lot of pressure to debut because they felt like no one knew who they were, but this only motivated them to work harder to become a group that can be loved and appreciated for their artistry.
As for the future, we will have to wait and see what the members of AtHeart have in store for us! The group emphasized wanting to experiment with a lot of different genres to make sure all of their comebacks are new and exciting for their audience, so we will have to wait and see what “plot twist” the girls decide to take us on for their inevitable comeback!
